How Wriddhiman Saha Started His Journey In The Field Of Cricket

Wriddhiman Prasanta Saha is a right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman who plays for the Indian cricket team. Wriddhiman Saha is 37 years old. He was born in Siliguri, West Bengal, on 24th October 1984. People also call him Wriddhi. In his entire career, he played 40 test matches and nine one-day matches. He started his test career in 2010 February. In his test career, he made three centuries and 6 half centuries. In domestic cricket, he plays for Tripura and in IPL he plays for Gujarat Titans. Wriddhiman Saha was the first cricket player who scored a brilliant century in an IPL final match. From 2007 to 2022 he used to play for Bengal in the domestic game.

He also played for Chennai super kings, Kolkata knight riders, sunrises Hyderabad, and Kings XI Punjab in his IPL career. He got cap 190 when he started his ODI career on 28th November 2010 against New Zealand. Wriddhiman Saha is the 15th player of Bengal who made a century on Ranji’s trophy debut. Wriddhiman Saha got the opportunity to play a test match for India when Mahendra Singh Dhoni retired after playing his last test match against Australia in Melbourne in 2014. He did 12 stumpings and took 91 caches in his test career. In his ODI career, he did one stumping and took 17 catches. International cricket: Indian cricket team added Wriddhiman Saha to the test squad as a replacement for Dinesh Karthik for facing South Africa in the upcoming test series. In the first innings of the match, Wriddhiman Saha got out at zero. In the second innings of the game, he scored 36 runs. While facing South African fast bowler Dale Steyn he lost his wicket. When India lost the match team eliminated Wriddhiman Saha from the squad for the next test match. He was playing the border Gavaskar trophy as a replacement for Mahendra Singh Dhoni and he scored 35 runs. He faced New Zealand in 2014 February and he also played against England in the same year for the test team.

On December 9th, 2014 Wriddhiman Saha got another opportunity to play for his country against Australia where he made 25 runs. He was also included in the 4th match where he scored 35 runs. He started his ODI career in 2010 against New Zealand in a 5 ODIs series. He played three matches in the series. After his brilliant performance in the 2014 IPL final, he was selected for the Bangladesh tour. His performance on the Bangladesh tour was not that good. After the series, he got selected for the ODI series against Sri Lanka once again when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was on a leave for his thumb injury. In this series, he played three matches. He played his last ODI match against Sri Lanka on 2nd November and his last test match against New Zealand on 3rd December.

IPL career: Wriddhiman Saha was in Kolkata knight riders before he signed for Chennai super kings in 2011. From 2011-2013 he played for Chennai super kings. In 2014 he signed for kings XI Punjab as a wicketkeeper-batsman. In the entire IPL tournament, Wriddhiman Saha’s performance was magnificent. In the final match, Wriddhiman Saha became the only player to hit a century in the final match of the Indian Premier league. He scored 115 of 55 balls. Kings eleven Punjab was unable able to win the match, but Wriddhiman Saha played one of the best innings of his life which was delightful to watch. In 2018 he signed for sunrises Hyderabad. In 2020 he made 214 runs in IPL by playing in just 4 matches. He also scored 2 half-centuries in the Indian Premier League 2020. He played 9 matches in 2021. In 2021 he maintained a strike rate of 93.57. In 2022 he signed for Gujarat Titans and lifted the trophy on the night of the Indian Premier League 2022 final match. He also lifted the trophy with Chennai super kings in 2011.

Domestic cricket: Wriddhiman Saha was in the under-19 team before playing first class. He played his first one-day match in the Ranji trophy in 2006. In his first Ranji trophy match, he faced Assam. He played for the east zone in the Deodhar trophy. Wriddhiman Saha got to play in 3ODIs in the Deodhar trophy. He started playing first class in Ranji trophy 2007-08. He made 111 not out against Hyderabad in the Ranji trophy. Wriddhiman Saha has a huge credit for taking East-Zone to the Duleep trophy. When he made a century for his team Bengal in the Ranji trophy Kolkata knight riders offered him to play for them in the Indian Premier League 2008. Wriddhiman Saha’s century in his debut Ranji trophy match was a turning point in his cricket career.

His present life

Currently, He is playing for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League 2022. He played a lot of great innings in his entire cricket career. Frequently his form went up and down and that affected his career a lot. His memorable innings in the Indian Premier League will always be remembered. In 2022 lifted the trophy of the Indian Premier League with his team Gujarat Titans. He gave a boost to his career by scoring a great century in his Ranji trophy debut.
