(audi tuner questions) what's a preferred b7 audi a4 for overall enjoyment?
i'm currently living in japan, driving a 6-speed manual toyota altezza rs200. it's sexy, roomy, girls like it, and it's decently fast. i definitely don't plan on downgrading in the us, when i return shortly, and am interested in something with all-wheel drive. i'm seriously considering a b7 audi a4, but i don't know which one to get. the 2.0t or 3.2l? like my car now, i like the fact that my car is decently fast (i'm not smoking any gt-r's or tt supra's) but i can give it some gas and get a decent response. i would love to go buy a b7 s4 and run straight pipes, but i hear those things have some serious issues around 100,000 miles, and i'm not yet an audi expert (and i would have to sacrifice any gas mileage i was hoping for). the car would definitely be a sedan. i love some wagon's but not the a4. i do enjoy looking at the a3, and will cross that bridge if they just happen to have them both at a dealership. so my question is, overall, which is a more enjoyable car? i worked for vw as a salesman when the 2.0t engine was out, and i definitely enjoyed the hell out of it, but i don't know much about that 3.2l. a more important question though, the transmission. i replaced my clutch about 30,000km ago and it was about $700 for everything, but i know the price would have been way more for an automatic transmission having problems. i know german cars are made very well and when they break, its expensive. how would the 2.0t automatic transmission cope with some apr performance upgrades? i don't plan on making 500hp but i think giving the car some balls isn't a bad thing. everything engine-wise would be upgraded accordingly but i'm not exactly an automatic transmission expert in any way. i honestly don't understand the reason of having tons of horsepower going to an automatic transmission. i guess i'm old school (with the exception of the dsg transmission, but i dont know how much power those things can take). and lastly, i was interesting in where all of you acquire all the parts from other audi cars? i see (on the internet) people installing s6 drl's in place of their stock fog lights, rs4 pedals in the place of their regular pedals, and so on. i would like to think you're not paying to stock price from audi. i have been owning a lexus all this time but i haven't had to follow the lexus rules. my car came with the ability to run the fog lights and headlights separately. i don't have error messages when i plugged in led bulbs in my license plate lights or parking lights because my car doesn't have anything to regulate that, and i live in japan, so jdm parts are just regular parts that you get at the parts store. i guess i'm still new to modding a luxury car. any tips or favorite mods that made the difference between your car and the same colored a4 parked next to you would be greatly appreciated. for me, i took my dash apart and replaced every burnt orange led bulb with a blue led bulb. to this day, i get asked where i bought my gauges and how i got them to to the ac unit too.
used audi a4 for first car?
found some at a decent price year 2008 onwards but i've heard they are expensive to maintain.
what to do to my audi a4 (performance)?
i'm looking for suggestions for the most cost efficient parts or systems i can install into my 2009 audi a4 2.0 quattro. i want the highest performance increase i can get for the best price. looking mainly for horsepower/torque increase or throttle response. i definitely don't want unreliable or cheap parts though so i would be willing to pay a little more for reliability/durability. thanks how exactly do i change the final drive ratio of my audi? can someone please put links to some products that would fit this car? thanks
should i get audi a4 or infiniti g37?
hi, i'm a senior in high soon to get a car. i'm deciding to whether to get an audi a4 2.0 or infiniti g37x (both need awd, i live in a cold area). i know it's a really nice car for a high school student but i just got accepted into an ivy-league university so my parents said i earned it. both cars would be at around the same price (42,000-ish) so that is not an issue. the infiniti is slightly cheaper but audi makes up for it in fuel economy. the audi a4 would have the prestige package and the infiniti g37 would have the premium and navigation package. both cars have around the same features though the infiniti does have a sliding sunroof (audi only tilts), adaptive cruise control, and scratch shield paint. they both have their own pros and cons i just don't know which one to choose. the audi in my opinion definitely looks better inside and outside. the exterior is really sexy and the interior is very nice with the mmi system and 14 speaker sound system versus infiniti's 10 speakers (though i did feel the interior a bit too plasticky). it also has more space, and is slightly more fuel-efficient. the infiniti on the other hand has over 110 more horsepower and a v6 engine along with a 7 speed auto transmission. performance is definitely better with the infiniti though the audi 2.0 does have good cornering and acceleration (i hear). i tested both of these cars but i couldn't really do any experimentation with my parents sitting next to me. i don't plan to drive like a maniac but i would like to do some fast cornering and what not on empty roads. for a beginner like me, i would imagine both cars would satisfy any performance i want. but i will keep this car for at least 3-4 years, so later on i probably would want higher performance. the infiniti's interior and exterior isn't as nice but i still like it. it also has a couple more features. lastly, it is reliable. it is japanese and has a reputation of being very reliable, while i hear audi reliability isn't that good. another big concern of mine is looking too showoffy in my school parking lot. most of the kids in my school drive hand-me-downs, though there are a few bmw's and one range rover sport. those cars have never been keyed up but my friend who has an audi a5 got his car keyed last year. the a4 isn't as nice looking as the a5 but it still stands out a lot and i am afraid of someone scratching it. there are a lot of infiniti's in my town so i think that has a less chance of being keyed than the a4. there are a few losers in my school who think any kid with a nice car should get their car keyed, but i try to avoid them and are not friends nor enemies with them. i was wondering if anyone has a suggestion about which car i should get. i'm more concerned about looking showoffy and reliability than anything because i have done extensive research about the cars and what they offer. if anyone has owned/driven these cars or has any opinion about which one is better for me, please let me know. thanks a lot.
